Certifichips

In an effort to reduce identity theft and unlicensed medical practices, certifichips were made mandatory for any robots, humans or devices operating in any field of science, as of 2466.

On devices, the certifichip is laid beside the device’s serial number. On robots, the certifichip is implanted into the lower quadrant of the robot’s processing cortex.

On humans, placement of the certifichip proved to be problematic. Originally, it was embedded into the left wrist of the certified professional. However, this enabled several identity thieves to find certified persons, cut off their left arm at the elbow and steal their identities to practice unlawful science. The human certifichip was then moved to the right wrist, the left ankle, the right kneecap and the nipples before it was determined that a more unavailable location was required for the chip.

It was finally decided that the certifichip would be placed deep inside the rectum, adjacent to the Sigmoid colon. This was discovered to be the most effective prevention for identity theft and unlicensed practices since anyone daring enough to extract a person’s certifichip would become open to ridicule by teenage boys.

Patient V

Badvice is a clinical term used by both personality trainers and emoticon advisors. It refers to a human’s feeling that his or her doctor’s prescription is poorly conceived and need not be executed. It was first coined by Dr. Jonas Voight-Schnapp in his seminal study, “Humans Are Not As Schmart As They Think They Are, Therefore Humans Are Schtupid,” published in 2468 in the Journal of Ontological Bioscience.

Dr. Voight-Schnapp based the term (and most of the study) on Patient V, who had an overwhelming fear of heights. The doctor’s prescription was that the patient “base-jump off a high bridge as soon as possible.”

However, Patient V refused this prescription and instead opted to take a vacation in New Zealand. Unfortunately, the tropospheric shuttle that was transporting Patient V encountered a low-level radiation storm and broke up over the Indian Ocean.

“If only Patient V had not sheen my preshcription as badvice,” surmised Dr. Voight-Schnapp, “he or she might have had a long und rich exshistence.”

Pet-bots

In the Great Famine of late 22nd Century (Gregorian calendar), traditional food sources became extremely scarce. During these desperate times, many starving humans were forced to sustain themselves on low calorie diets of domesticated animals. This led to the near-extinction of most dogs, cats and small rodents (though the Chihuahua breed of dog did became extinct for unrelated reasons).

In 2251 (Robot calendar), the Council for a New Tomorrow passed legislation that enabled the manufacture of replacements for these pets, called pet-bots. While not living animals, pet-bots are programmed to emulate the creatures upon which they are modeled. In order to have the appearance of an animal sentience, a random personality processor is built into most pet-bots.

Due to the popularity of pet-bots, it is not known if or when actual canines or felines will ever be re-introduced into conventional life.

Human Procreation

After the first successful creation of a human clone that wasn’t evil, Barry Paxfeld, in 2249 (Gregorian calendar), eugenics-based systems quickly became the primary form of all plant and animal species production on the Earth.

While the widespread use of eugenic engineering and cloning systems has led to an increase in the dynamism of the species, natural procreation continues to provide a minute segment of the human population. Even if an unwanted characteristic is borne in such an offspring, bionic and biochemical engineering can correct any errors postnatal.

Such successful commercial eugenics providers as Unfubar Internazionale and GenetiTrends, LLC, have breathed fresh life into the long diminished capacity of human physiology.

Holiday Eve

Holiday Eve has its origins in ancient human tradition.

During the Neolithic age, humans were at a confounded stage of their mental development. Not knowing how to explain why some days are shorter than others, they celebrated their ignorance with chaotic festivals that lasted many days and included virginal sacrifices. These festivals were intended to both satiate their gods and let off a little steam.

As religious beliefs shifted from pantheistic to monotheistic, these yuletide festivals also developed into such sectarian occasions as Hanukkah, Christmas, Ramadan and Kwanzaa.

It was not until 2260 (Robot time) that all celebrations on or around the winter solstice were conglomerated into one single celebration called Holiday Eve. The negative effects of this change were minimal since Family Day and the Human Shopping Cycle had already been instituted.

Holiday Eve is celebrated every cycle at 00-00-80-50-20 and by law cannot last longer than 20 decicycles. Any persons celebrating longer than the maximum length of the celebration shall be subject to persecution.
